I’m not even kidding with that blog post title, either! Stephanie fell in love with a man from Ohio and then moved there to be with him, so when it came time to plan their Rockwall wedding, she was doing everything long distance and in the few trips she as able to make back home. I can’t imagine how stressful that must have been! We originally planned to do her bridal portraits in May but due to an alterations issue her dress wasn’t going to be ready until the week of her wedding. So we decided to do this ninja style and shoot her bridal portraits the three days before her wedding. I had it all planned out, we were going to shoot them at the gorgeous canals in Las Colinas but when I called the day before the session to secure the permit for photography I was greeted with bad news. Due to the massive amounts of rain and flooding the Dallas Fort Worth area had recently had, they weren’t able to issue permits to shoot at the canals due to a sewage problem. I was SO bummed, and seriously panicked. I wanted this to be absolutely perfect for her and when I saw a photo of her gorgeous lace Allure bridal gown the canals were THE spot I pictured for her portraits. I asked several photographer friends if they knew of anywhere even close to the look and feel of the canals and my amazing friend Lisa suggested that we shoot at Adriatica in McKinney. She sent over a few photos from a fashion editorial that she shot there and I knew that was the new place for us! So, about that Starbuck’s drive-thru…
pintopinterestThanks to the beauty of photoshop, I bet nobody would ever guess that the photo above was taken in the drive-thru at Starbucks, right? Bridal portraits are very much a southern tradition and with her fiancé, Chris, being from Ohio I think it was a very new concept for him to begin with. But once we knew we got *the* shot in the drive-thru, Stephanie and her mom might have had a little fun telling Chris that “we just shot the bridal portraits at Starbucks”. It was awesome and hilarious and I’m sure he was either really confused or thought wedding planning had finally gotten the best of us and we had surely lost our marbles! Either way, it goes down as one of my favorite “stories behind a photo” that I’ve taken. Enjoy the rest of these gorgeous photos taken around Adriatica…

pintopinterestI want to give a special thanks and shout out to Pounds Lab in Dallas. We shot Stephanie’s bridal portraits on Wednesday. I came straight home, and stayed up till the wee hours of the morning to get the gallery ready for Stephanie to choose the image she wanted on a canvas for her reception, only to find out that the lab I usually use currently had a slower turn around time than usual. Her wedding was on Saturday so of course PANIC set in! Then a friend told me to check out Pounds Lab. I gave them a call and was greeted by a super friendly person that listened to my rambling plea of why I needed a 20×30 canvas in 24 hours or less only to be told “No problem! Of course we’d be glad to do this for you!” They’ve definitely earned a customer for life! So, if you’re a pro in need of excellent customer service and beautiful print products, definitely check them out.
